What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is the process of removing hair by exposing hair follicles to flashes of extremely bright laser light that disable hair growth from the targeted follicles over time.
It might sound like something out of a science fiction novel, but this safe and effective method of hair removal has been around since the early 90’s. Laser hair removal is an alternative to other hair removal techniques and methods like shaving, 왁싱, tweezing, and epilation.
While users report there being some level of discomfort or pain during the procedure, it’s much less painful than waxing or plucking hair with tweezers.
Many say the experience is totally painless, but others report it feels like warm, tingly pulsing or a rubber band gently snapping against the skin.
Laser hair removal was once limited to in-office treatment by professionals offering the procedure in dermatology offices, plastic surgery offices, and medical spas (medspas).
Once many people decide to do this work at home, but due to unskilled operation and no enough experience and knowledge, they were hurt by the machine and not achieve expected effect.
오리엔탈레이저, one of the forefront companies in the industry, was the first to offer an at-home laser hair removal device back in 2008.
How does laser hair removal work?
Simply put: heat targets an area to destroy the hair follicles and prevent regrowth.
Laser hair removal targets the hair follicle with concentrated beams of light (lasers). The medical grade laser is attracted to the melanin within the hair follicle. The laser is converted into heat energy which destroys the root within the follicle and prevents future growth. It only affects the specific structure of the hair, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.
Laser hair removal results depend on a variety of factors such as how dense and coarse the hair is, which will vary from person to person.
Common hair removal treatment areas include legs, 겨드랑이, 비키니 라인, upper lip, 턱, and chest and back for men and women.
How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?
For optimal results it is recommended that you undergo a course of 6-10 treatments and 15-20 minutes one time.
The reason a course of treatments is recommended is because of the way the hair grows and the lasers work. The laser targets hair that is in the ‘growth phase’or Anagen phase of its cycle. Your hair reaches this stage at different times, hence the reason for a number of sessions; so that each of the hairs is targeted by the laser at some point.
The area being treated, your hair density and skin type will also determine how many times you will need to undergo treatment. Your therapist will be able to advise you on the number of treatments required for your specific hair and skin type, but we generally would recommend a course of 6-10 치료법.
What is the difference between laser hair removal and IPL?
레이저: The energy emitted from a laser is a pure single colour focused light, which travels at the same wavelength in a straight line. Lasers are able to differentiate between skin and hair pigment, At skin our advanced clinical lasers can be calibrated to suit your skin type, meaning that whatever your hair or skin colour, laser is safe.
IPL: Intense pulsed light therapy produces a variety of light waves,
그러므로, in order to save your treatment time and discrease the sense of painess, we recommand the diode laser hair removal machine.
Can you get laser hair removal while pregnant?
아니요, it is advised that you do not get laser hair removal while pregnant.
Although laser hair removal is considered a safe procedure, it is usually advised that women avoid the procedure when pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because not enough research has been done to prove that it’s safe for mothers and babies. In the absence of research, we err on the side of caution.
How effective is laser hair removal?
Clients could see up to 90% reduction in hair growth from laser hair removal, and any hair that does grow back will grow back much slower and be finer and lighter. You’ll also have smoother skin, the risk of ingrown hairs will be dramatically reduced, and you’ll no longer have the stubble or rashes associated with frequent waxing or shaving.
하지만, the success of your treatment is dependent on the colour of hair being treated and how many sessions you have. Clients with darker hair will get the best results, but those with white, blonde, grey or red hair will not see as effective results as there is not enough pigment in the hair to attract the laser.
Hair growth is also impacted by many factors including hormonal changes, so top up treatments after you’ve completed your course are sometimes needed to ensure you get the longest lasting results.
With enough sessions at the right intervals, you’re likely to see permanent hair reduction and you may never have to shave or wax again.
Preparing for the laser hair removal
You will need to shave the area the day before or day of your treatment, as there should not be any surface hair on the treatment area. That way, all the energy from the laser can be transmitted under the skin and as close to the root as possible, ensuring more effective results.
It is important that you do not wax or pluck the area prior to treatment, as in doing so you will remove the follicle, and the laser will have nothing to target.
